Responsibilities included: examination of Australian patent applications; performing search and examinations on behalf of other international patent offices and organisations (United States Patent & Trademark Office, Singapore Patent Office, World Intellectual Property Organisation). This experience provides Lancaster Legal with an in-depth knowledge of the patent protection system which often forms an integral part of research, innovation & development projects.

Lancaster Legal lawyers also have experience in boutique commercial, innovation and technology law firms in Melbourne’s CBD, Cooperative Research Centres such as the Molecular Plant Breeding Cooperative Research Centre (MPBCRC), Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organisation (CSIRO) in addition to various General Counsel roles including an Australian start-up pharmaceuticals company, rail engineering group, medical device company and senior in-house secondment roles at large organisations including one of Australia’s 4 largest banks. In these roles, we have provided advice with respect to technology licensing, collaborative research ventures, IP protection and commercialisation of technology for large and complex transactions.

– Design and Constructions agreements for complex and technology dependent infrastructure developments;

– IP due diligence, and IP identification, capture, ownership and protection strategies for R&D project IP.
